CCW Classes for Sacramento County Residents

Confidence Safety Academy is an approved CCW instructor for Sacramento County. We teach the 16-hour new-permit class ($300) and the 8-hour renewal ($200) in Rocklin and Loomis. Your instructors are Chad Hertzell, a retired CHP officer and former 82nd Airborne paratrooper, and Mindy Hertzell.

How the Sacramento County process works

• Apply online at sacramentoca.permitium.com. The Sheriff charges $291 when you apply and $290 when your permit is issued. Fingerprinting (Live Scan) is $93 to $137 more.

• Pick your interview date in the portal. It can't be sooner than 30 days after you apply. Interviews are at 2101 Hurley Way, Sacramento.

• Don't take your class until the Sheriff tells you to. Sacramento wants training done after your background and interview.

• Once you're cleared, take the class and qualify with each gun you want on your permit, up to 3. Every gun has to be registered to you. AR and AK pistols can't be listed.

• Upload your county training form to the portal. You have 90 days, starting when your background is approved or when you get the form from your instructor.

• Renewing: $267. You can apply starting 45 days before your permit expires, and you'll need a new Live Scan.

Questions about your application go to the Sacramento County Sheriff's CCW Unit at 916-874-8450. Questions about the class go to us.
