CCW Classes for Yolo County Residents

Confidence Safety Academy is an approved CCW instructor for Yolo County. We teach the 16-hour new-permit class ($300) and the 8-hour renewal ($200) in Rocklin and Loomis. Your instructors are Chad Hertzell, a retired CHP officer and former 82nd Airborne paratrooper, and Mindy Hertzell.

How the Yolo County process works

• If you live in Woodland, Winters or West Sacramento, the Sheriff asks you to apply with your city police department first. Everyone else applies with the Sheriff.

• Apply online at yoloca.permitium.com. The Sheriff charges a $65 application fee to book your interview and $260 more if you're approved. Fingerprinting (Live Scan) is extra.

• Your training certificate has to show your instructor's DOJ certification number. Ours does.

• Take the class and qualify with each gun you want on your permit. Every gun has to be registered to you.

• Upload your county training form to the portal. You have 90 days, starting when your background is approved or when you get the form from your instructor.

• Renewing: $90, plus the 8-hour class and a new Live Scan.

Questions about your application go to the Yolo County Sheriff's Office at 530-668-5280. Questions about the class go to us.
